Not every photography experience is the same, but as a luxury photographer, I want to make sure every client has one of the most relaxing and enjoyable experiences possible. The hair and makeup services included with our sessions together is just one of the ways I ensure that!
The Luxury Experience
Taking on a limited number of clients is one of the ways I do things a little bit differently than other photographers. I take so much pride in my work, and I love to be able to devote myself fully to my clients, seeing them all the way through the planning stages to completing their heirloom album or installing their custom artwork.
Hair and Makeup
For all the amazing mamas I am so lucky to work with, I provide a hair and makeup team. The easier the experience, the better! There is no coordinating or scrambling to find a hair and makeup artist; mamas get to begin our session with a clean, makeup-free face and in their coziest sweats.
One thing my team asks is that you also come with freshly washed and dried hair. It’s great to start fresh, and my team will make sure those curls hold! A lot of my clients opt for a more natural, soft-glam look with loose, effortless waves. However, if you want to go all-in on some red carpet glam, or go bare-faced that is totally fine! The most important thing is for every mama to feel beautiful, comfortable, and confident. You can start feeling like yourself again, or even better, especially after the early chaos of new motherhood.
Don’t be afraid to say you’re uncomfortable with something. I promise you won’t offend them! We want you to feel as comfortable as possible. I know it’s not often we get our hair and makeup done, so while it feels unnatural, keep in mind that the camera needs those stronger enhancements as it tends to soften details.
Newborn sessions are typically in the studio, so the hair and makeup team will be there when you arrive. Seconds later, you step out of the makeup chair and start getting beautiful portraits with your little one. For any maternity or family outdoor session, the team will meet us on location– you get pampered no matter where we are! Tips are always welcome– feel free to ask your stylist what’s the best way to tip if you don’t have cash.
While you’re getting pampered, I photograph your baby’s solo shots on the beanbag in my studio. It’s a wonderful way to make use of our time together! Dad’s are more than welcome to hang out in the studio, or can come in a bit later with an older sibling while mom is finishing up. It’s totally up to you!
A Pro Tip
Plan for a late lunch date after your session while you’re feeling amazing! I’ve had so many situations where even the husband will continuously compliment their wife on how amazing she looks. “Wow hun, you look incredible!” and, “Look how good you look!”
Take full advantage of looking and feeling confident and beautiful, and celebrate yourself! Your memories are but short moments in your life. I want you to focus on the love you have for your family, without the worry of not feeling your best.
