I talk a lot about how important it is to take care of yourself throughout your pregnancy. When it comes to self-care routines, I know it can be daunting to find pregnancy-safe skincare products! There are so many things we as pregnant women can’t put on our skin, so I wanted to provide a list of some must-have skincare blends to keep you feeling beautiful and refreshed.
1. Vitamin C Serum
Dark spot-removing serums can be huge in your self-care routine, since a lot of pregnant women experience melasma throughout their pregnancy. A safe product is the Biossance Squalane +10% serum formulated to lighten dark spots, hydrate skin and brighten the complexion.
2. Retinol Alternative
We all know we aren’t able to use retinol throughout pregnancy. So, what will we use to replace such a magical blend that removes dark spots and softens fine lines? The Silk Serum by Tatcha is a beautiful alternative. It essentially functions as a retinoid without the ingredients that are harmful to your pregnancy.
3. Sunscreen
La Roche Posay as a brand has a wide variety of products that are pregnancy-safe, but their Anthelios Ultra Light Mineral Sunscreen with SPF 50 is a wonderful daily sunscreen. It’s fragrance free and noncomedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores. Sunscreen is so important to apply daily, and pregnancy shouldn’t get in the way of that.
4. Moisturizer
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel with Hyaluronic Acid is an incredible moisturizer, pregnant or not! The hyaluronic acid adds all that wonderful moisture to your skin, and the gel consistency sinks into your skin immediately.
This is by no means a complete list! Some other brands to look out for are The Honest Company, CeraVe and The Ordinary. Skin care regimens are a huge part of caring for yourself, and that shouldn’t change just because you’re pregnant. These are a few staple products to keep your regime regular
