As a Hinsdale photographer, I think one of the most important things parents can do for their children is document the milestones of their entire first year. There is so much growth in all little one’s first year of life, and with all those huge moments, there are so many beautiful memories to capture. I absolutely love providing these incredible moments to parents, who can then show them to their little one years later and for generations to come. If you need a little convincing, I’ve put together a list of reasons milestone photography is necessary.
1. The First Weeks Fly By
When you have a newborn, life seems to go by in ebbs and flows. Sometimes the days seem to drag on, while other times it’s like you’ve blinked and lost a week. Those late nights and early mornings can blur together, and before you know it your little one is turning over and beginning to crawl. Getting newborn photos is something every parent should opt for, but it’s only the stepping stone for other milestones to come!
2. You Can Look Back At How Far They’ve Come
Giving yourself an heirloom album or gallery wall of all the best moments of your child’s first year truly is one of the best gifts anyone can have. In those moments when they’re showing you how grown up they’re becoming, you can look back and revel in the magical time when they were small enough to snuggle easily into your arms. I promise you, having photos from newborn, three, six, nine months and then one year is an unbelievable keepsake.
3. Milestone Sessions Can Be Planned Ahead
When scheduling sessions with your photographer, it’s an amazing option to bundle sessions and have them planned out ahead of time. When you decide on the photographer you’re going to work with, make sure you inquire about any membership opportunities. For example, I offer a First Year Membership wherein clients can choose from maternity, newborn, and milestone sessions. Bundling things at the start saves everyone time and stress.
