As we approach springtime, I can’t stop imagining all the beautiful outdoor scenes I get to capture as a Chicagoland photographer. Once the weather finally warms, there are so many spots in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs that are incredible to do photoshoots in! I made a short list of some of my favorite locations.
1. Lincoln Park Chicago, IL
Lincoln Park is a sprawling green space in the city, and it has gorgeous parts to tuck away for photos. Of course, there are famous locations like the Zoo and the honeycomb structure that make for beautiful and timeless scenery, too. All throughout Lincoln Park are lush trees, peeking city skylines and colorful flowers. It’s one of the best parts of the city!
2. Montrose Harbor Chicago, IL
Even more of the city skyline is available in the background at this location. Montrose Harbor has a large beach which is wonderful for photographing children playing in and action shots along the lake. It also has concrete walking paths along the lake to take advantage of, as well. This harbor is not as crowded as other spots farther down in the city, which is ideal for young children running around.
3. Fullersburg Woods Nature Preserve Oak Brook, IL
In addition to being a lovely outdoor space, they also have an incredible nature education center on the grounds. After our session, you can take your children to the center and learn all there is to know about the wildlife in the preserve. They have incredible walking paths, huge and gorgeous trees, and plenty of space to roam and find a secluded spot for a peaceful session under the sun.
4. Riverwalk Park Naperville, IL
This spot is a truly stunning backdrop for photos. The water serves as a beautiful vantage point that would be perfect for maternity or mini sessions. With outdoor locations like this, you really do get more freedom to be playful and get more dynamic lifestyle shots. One of my favorite parts is the paddle boat pier which would be a lovely way to end any session.
