At-home newborn photography is an amazing way to capture the earliest memories of your little one. It’s also an intimate look at your lives as you live them, in your most cherished spaces. When it comes to deciding where to plan for photos, you might be a little unsure. I wanted to give some recommendations of the best spots to shoot photos in your home.
1. Your Bedroom
Of course, this might seem obvious, but still very much worth noting. The bedroom shared between you and your partner is the scene of so much love and life. As your child grows, you’ll hear their little feet padding across the floor before snuggling up in your bed on lazy Saturday mornings. Photos in this space capture beautiful firsts of many moments to come with your precious little one.
2. The Nursery
Choosing the design of your nursery is a big achievement, and it should be commemorated with timeless photography. It’s also nice to be able to see it when it’s clean, organized and meticulously decorated– so different from how it can look in the chaos of daily life. You’ve designed this space so that your newborn can feel relaxed and peaceful. Celebrate that beautiful space with your beautiful family.
3. Kitchen or Living Area
These parts are often referred to as the heart of homes, so naturally it’s an amazing spot in your home for lifestyle photography. Capturing your family in the space you’ll spend the most time together is so special. These parts of any home often get incredible natural light which adds so much depth and warmth to photos.
4. Outdoors
Of course, this is dependent on the season and if you have a dedicated outdoor space you use in your daily lives. However, if the weather allows, capturing moments outside can be truly magical. We can walk around and, if you have other children, they can run around and enjoy the sunshine and freedom.
All in all, newborn sessions in your home can be some of the most beautiful photos you’ll enjoy for the rest of your lives. They capture and freeze moments in time to be cherished as the years roll by, and look back on how much your family has grown and changed in your sacred home.
