With Autumn in full-swing, there are probably two things on your children’s minds: Halloween, and pumpkin patches. Okay, I’m sure candy is in there somewhere, too! But going to the pumpkin patch as a family is such a fun, memorable experience. The Halloween season has officially begun, so here are a few of the best places to take your children for the ultimate Fall experience!
Sonny Acres Farm West Chicago, IL
Founded in 1883, this farm truly has everything your children will love. They have a wonderful, family-friendly Fall Festival running from now until Oct. 30, which has all the traditional fall festivities! Pumpkin picking, an animal zoo where your kids can feed them, carnival rides, and an incredible Farm Fresh Store to go through on your way out. This farm has something for everyone in your family.
Goebbert’s Farm & Garden Center South Barrington, IL
Goebbert’s is a Chicago suburb staple. Your children will love getting to feed a real giraffe before watching piglets run around in their pen and going to feed the other barn animals. Carnival rides are here, too, along with a winding corn maze and bumpy hayride. Their dining area has unbelievable hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and donuts. Your children will be talking about Goebbert’s all the way until it’s time to go back next year.
Johansen Farms Boilingbrook, IL
Johansen Farms is known for their children’s zoo and pumpkin patch. The petting zoo has hundreds of animals, and your kids can even hold some baby chicks– how cute is that? There is also a mini golf course and pony rides, so your children will have so many things to do they won’t know where to start! Their pumpkin patch is massive, so your family will have plenty to choose from to make the best jack-o-lanterns.
Abbey Farms Aurora, IL
Abbey Farms has one of the best pumpkin patches around, and tons of fall activities for your family to love. Some favorites are the jumping pillow, zip lines, and a megadrop slide! They call their Fall attractions Pumpkin Daze, which makes total sense. This farm has some of the most unique attractions and activities, so I’m sure it will be an everlasting favorite for your family.
Kroll’s Farm Waukegan, IL
This pumpkin patch has an educational emphasis, so your children will get to learn while having an amazing, fun experience. The staff at Kroll’s are knowledgeable on all the animals, and their corn maze has an educational game you play as you walk through! This maze design says, “Thank you for 20 years!” and also has a virtual app to play the game, and if you get stuck and need a little extra help navigating to the end.
Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm Homer Glen, IL
Bengtson’s has 13 carnival rides for your children to enjoy, and so many animals for them to see. They have a wonderful petting zoo so your children can experience up-close and personal interactions. The rides at Bengtson’s are great for children of all ages, so everyone can have a little bit of that fun.
